Cheers to 50...Happy Birthday!
12x16, oil on birch panel
by Michael Reibel
This painting was commissioned by Kristin Higgins for her husband Todd Higgins to celebrate his 50thbirthday. Todd worked in my Planning and Analysis department during my days of corporate America at ResCare, Inc. in Louisville, KY before painting became my full time career and passion. Kristin stated, “Todd has always admired your paintings. He turns 50 in June and I would love to surprise him with a piece of your artwork. Do you have anything available that depicts Kentucky - horses, bourbon, rolling fields, etc.?”
Kristin and I decided on a bourbon and Kentucky Derby themed painting.
The painting features Woodford Reserve Kentucky Bourbon Derby 146 commemorative bottle, sterling mint julep cups, and a sprig of mint from my garden. The horses and jockeys of course represents the Kentucky Derby after the horses have left the starting gate and are vying for position in the annual Run for the Roses!
Still life scene uniquely created and painted from life by the artist,
